LUXURY CAMP

Luxury Inca Trail 4 days

The 4 Day Luxury Inca Trail is an ideal trek along South America’s most famous route, offering a luxurious experience for our clients who will enjoy a superior combination of architectural interest and modern comfort.

This is a high-end version of the traditional Inca Trail (which consists of a guided hike through rugged terrain with standard luxury camping). We elevate your experience to a higher level with five-star accommodations (glamping tents) surrounded by nature, immersion in the local culture, and breathtaking views.

The luxury version offers massages along the Inca Trail, hot showers, gourmet meals, luxury camping, and a more sophisticated pilgrimage, providing visitors with contemporary facilities that blend harmoniously with the ritual of traversing stone paths with 500-year-old hierarchical patterns, preserved by the ancient Incas. As part of this experience, travelers can admire the remnants of Inca infrastructure.

Itinerary of luxury inca trail: Explore the Inca Trail in the premium way:

Day 1: CUSCO – PISCACUCHO (KM 82) - WAYLLABAMBA

A relaxed first day sets the tone for the remaining four days of the Inca Trail trek. After being picked up from your accommodation in Cusco at 4:45 a.m., we will arrive in Ollantaytambo after a 1.5-hour drive for your first breakfast (not included). The trek begins early. The drive to Piscacucho, the starting point of the trail, takes approximately two hours. After crossing the Urubamba River, you will reach the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Stunning Andean landscapes, characterized by lush vegetation and snow-capped peaks, await you after passing through the checkpoint. In addition to the larger Inca ruins, you will find smaller ones along the way, such as Llactapata, which serves as a good introduction to the ruins you will see later on the trek.

You will camp for the night in Wayllabamba; the trail winds through the valley to reach it. Take it easy and enjoy the scenery before completing the hike the next day.

  • Located at 3,000 meters above sea level, the first campsite in Wayllabamba is reached after a hike through lush vegetation.
  • A total of 13 kilometers (8 miles, 6 to 7 hours) of hiking is required.
  • The campsite is located at 3,000 meters above sea level.
  • Difficulty: Moderate (acclimatization to the Inca Trail)
  • Meals included: Lunch and dinner
  • Accommodation: Camping in luxury tents
  • Ambient temperature: 18°C with a pleasant breeze

Day 2: HUAYLLABAMBA - HIGHEST POINT ON THE INCA TRAIL - PACAYMAYO

Dead Woman’s Pass, at 4,215 meters (13,700 feet), is reached on the second and most demanding day of the Inca Trail. While the steepness of the trail may prove challenging for some, the breathtaking views from the summit are well worth the effort. Upon reaching the pass, the descent to Pacaymayo begins, winding through picturesque cloud forests and dreamlike landscapes. Along this section of the trail are interesting Inca sites such as Runkurakay and Sayacmarca. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Pacaymayo, the perfect place to camp. Here you will have lunch, followed by afternoon tea and dinner. Before completing the trek the next day, this is a good time to relax and recover. Warmiwañusca Pass, at 4,200 meters (14,700 feet) above sea level, is the highest point on the trail and the most challenging section to reach today. Stop at the viewpoints to admire the breathtaking Andean landscape of mountains and valleys.

Camp in the Pacaymayo Valley after descending into it.

  • Distance: 6.2 km (6-7 hours) total hike.
  • The campsite is located at approximately 3600 meters above sea level.
  • This is the best day, as you have already overcome the two most difficult passes.
  • Mountain Range: Andes and Cloud Forest
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the meal plan.
  • Accommodation: Camping in the luxury tents.
  • Weather: Cold with sun

Day 3: PACAYMAYO - PHUYUPATAMARKA - WIÑAYWAYNA

The third day of the Inca Trail is somewhat easier than the second. The Inca site of Phuyupatamarca, sometimes called the “Village in the Clouds,” is one of the many fascinating Inca ruins the trail passes at this point. There are numerous waterfalls and picturesque streams along the way that invite you to stop and enjoy the scenery. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Wiñay Wayna and spend the night there. Today’s trek takes you past various Inca sites, such as Runkuracay and Sayacmarca, with some challenging ascents and descents.

Before descending into the cloud forest and reaching the final campsite at Wiñay Wayna, you will reach the second-highest point on the trail at 3,850 meters above sea level.

  • Total hiking time: 7-8 hours at a pace of 16 km (9.94 miles)
  • The campsite is located at an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level.
  • Additional information: Mild day, minimal uphill, and then all downhill!
  • Location: High Cloud Forest
  • Climate: Warm and humid (cool weather)
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the meal plan.
  • Accommodation: Luxury Tent camping.

Day 4: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

The most exciting part of the Inca Trail Luxury is the last day, when you arrive at Machu Picchu. The day begins with a short hike to the Sun Gate, from where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Machu Picchu. After descending from there, you’ll reach the first viewpoint, where you can take plenty of photos. Then, continue to the second viewpoint, the most popular spot for taking more pictures. Afterward, you’ll need to leave Machu Picchu to use the restrooms (2 soles) and to leave your backpacks and trekking poles (5 soles). Then, a guided tour of the ruins will begin. Machu Picchu is a sight to behold, with its magnificent structures and spectacular views. Keep in mind that if you book six months in advance, you can get the best circuit, number 2. Much will depend on how far in advance you book the luxury Inca Trail. After the visit, you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have your last lunch (not included). What happens in case there is no availability of the Luxury Inca Trail of Machu Picchu?
In case the Luxury Inca Trail Tours have been sold out on your desired/planned date. You also have plenty of time trekking and enjoying the Andes before you get to Machu Picchu. Other hikes are also breathtaking. This is because they are not so congested since we not only take you off the beaten tracks in the Andes but also make sure you do not miss anything on your way to Machu Picchu.
Can I reschedule the date of departure once the permits/tickets are purchased?
Regrettably, the answer is no. The government of Peru is not flexible in making changes once the Luxury Inca Trail tour permit and other tickets are purchased. Once paid, it is too late to change the date of departure. Tickets are not transferable or refundable.
Will I require my original passport on the Inca Trail?
Yes. You need to carry your original passport since you need to have it to enter the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, and other places (as requested by public authorities). Also, keep in mind that the passport number that you use to purchase the tickets needs to remain the same (make sure you renew your passport if it is going to expire before your trip and before you purchase entry tickets). However, in case of renewing your passport (lost or stolen) or changing your name, remit us the information of your old passport to obtain your permit, which we can update
at a charge of $25.00 USD per individual. The moment you obtain your new passport information, please let us know A.S.A.P. To change the passport information on your reservations, we need to be able to have both your previous and new passports. You will have to carry both passports to Peru, in case you do not pay this fee. Your entry will not be permitted without either.
What will become of me if I do not complete the Luxury Inca Trail tour to Machu Picchu?
In case you cannot complete the trek because of health issues (during the expedition), Travel Peru will take you to the nearest town in its transportation. Any breathing difficulties are met by carrying oxygen on the trek. In the worst case, a helicopter pickup will cost you a pittance. This is mandatory and advisable travel insurance. There will be no refund for those who are unable to complete the trek. As a general rule, the people who require any help off-trail are brought to Ollantaytambo. In the event that you are able to recover, you can proceed with the planned trip to Aguas Calientes at your own expense.
What time do trains depart?
The time of departure is determined by the availability and the high and low seasons. We intend to spend as much time in Machu Picchu as we can. Thus, we generally book the train to leave Aguas Calientes at 4:22 pm, giving the visitors at least four hours to explore Machu Picchu City
